Naamathite:
na'-a-ma-thit, na-am'-a-thit (naamdthi, "a dweller in Naaman"; ho M(e)inaion basileus): The description of Zophar, one of Job's friends (Job 2:11; 11:1; 20:1, etc.). Naamah is too common a place-name to permit of the identification of Zophar's home; the Septuagint renders it as "king of the Minaeans."
Naamathite:
the Gentile name of one of Job's friends, Zophar the Naamathite (Job 2:11; 11:1; 20:1; 42:9). There is no other trace of this name in the Bible, and the town whence it is derived is unknown (But as Uz was in Arabia, probably the Naamah where he lived was on the Arabian borders of Syria.)
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
